In order to let F4 break into the Japanese market, Cai Yue Xun, the director of "Mars" in which Zaizai Vic Chou will lead in, went to Sendai, Japan in place of Zaizai to have a look at the SUGO autobike circuit.

According to Angie Cai, "money is secondary, as long as we can let F4 break into the japanese market, i'm satisfied. We're now talking with a electronics company on filming an advertisement.

Director Cai Yue Xun has plans to start filming right after the Lunar New Year. He left today (15/1) to check out the proposed location of filming MARS, he's expected to return to Taiwan on 18/1. Right after the Lunar New Year, filming of MARS, in which Zaizai and Da S will lead in, is expected to start. In order to add more reality to the show, they are expected to invite Japan's top autobike racing star - Abe Norifumi - to act as a guest in the drama.

Producer Angie Cai said that although the show is primarily aimed at the chinese-speaking market, she also hopes that MARS will be aired on japanese television, just like MG will be beginning in March 04. In order to let Japanese accept it, they have invited top-notch acoustists to coordinate the live recordings. In order to sell in Japan, subtitles or dubbing may be neccessary, Angie Cai said, "most of the profits made may be directed to the dubbing in Japan."

According to Angie Cai's budget, the drama will have 14 episodes, each lasting 90 mins. It will take about NTD3.3 million to produce one episode, so the total budget is about NTD46.2 million. But in order to let F4 break into the Japanese market, and to let MG and MARS sell, dubbing may be neccessary and such expenditure cannot be witheld. Even Hollywood movies screened in Japan are dubbed.

In the past, Taiwan used to buy dramas from Japan or korea. However, if Angie Cai is able to do the reverse, such as producing dramas from well-known Japanese animations such as MG or MARS, then it will mean a better future for Taiwanese drama series.
